“Every great and original writer, in proportion as he is great and original, must himself create the taste by which he is to be relished.” -William Wordsworth (1770 – 1850) My favorite word right now is perspective. I am constantly seeking a new perspective, to gain better perspective, or to “put it in perspective.” My goal in life is take a step back and gain a broader perspective in terms of my own creativity, parenting, marriage, homemaking and daily life. The Lincoln Log, from my perspective, should be more than a newsletter. While it should remain informative of the most recent happenings in our children’s school lives, I would also like to see the Log be a creative place for our school community. I encourage children, parents and teachers to submit school related news, poetry, short fiction, art or photography. The Lincoln Log is our voice. I hope that each issue of the Lincoln Log will be a catalyst for the next, inspiring you to submit your own piece of work for print in our next publication.
Let us create the new flavor of the Lincoln Log and relish it together. I am privileged to be a part of the voice of our children’s school and am excited by the thought of creating a written forum for students, teachers and parents alike. Thank you, Lincoln PTA for this opportunity!
