Being Green!

Lincoln Cares!

Earth Week

Lincoln honors Earth Day every year with an entire week of activities, all assisted by Lincoln students. By celebrating Mother Earth and learning about ways we can all help live more sustainably, waste less and recycle more, we instill values of caring for our environment.

Conscious Cooks

Conscious Cooks is a lunch-time club open to all upper graders and meets every two weeks. The mission of the club is to teach Lincoln students to prepare and enjoy healthy, whole plant-based recipes with an environmental lesson tied in to each event. Students learn that what we choose to eat can make a difference in our world!

The Garden Club

Lincoln has a student Garden Club that is open to all 4th, 5th and 6th graders. One day a week, participants enjoy hands-on learning as they grow, nurture and harvest an edible garden. They also assist in maintenance and planting of other specialized gardens on campus.

Waste-Free Lunches

Help us reduce Lincoln’s lunchtime waste by sending a waste-free snack and lunch to school daily.

6 Steps to a waste-free lunch

  1. Reusable water bottles
  2. Reusable lunch box or container
  3. Reusable containers for food storage
  4. No paper napkins or utensils
  5. No paper napkins or plastic utensils.
  6. No aluminum foil, plastic wrap or Ziploc bags.

No Trash Tuesdays

On Tuesdays, classrooms compete to see which has the most students with waste-free lunches. The “Green Trophy” is awarded monthly to the winning class in primary and upper grade.
