Mission

The Lincoln Commitment (TLC)

The Lincoln Commitment is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) PTA fundraiser that is devoted to making a difference at Lincoln, a California Distinguished School. Its sole purpose is to raise the funds needed to provide the advanced curriculum and programs that are not provided by Newport Mesa School District. In school, your child engages in family-funded Technology, Art, PE and enrichment programs, in addition the district’s basic curriculum. Tax ID 81-0635510.

Here is a list of frequently asked questions about TLC.

WHAT IS TLC?

TLC, or The Lincoln Commitment, is a a direct-donation fundraiser. TLC is one of Lincoln’s primary fundraisers and is needed to supplement Lincoln’s teaching staff for educational programs such as Technology, Art, Enrichment, and Classroom Support.

WHERE DO MY CONTRIBUTIONS GO?

Your fully tax-deductible contribution goes directly to Lincoln to fund our Technology and Art programs and salaries for Classroom Support Aides. It is also used to fund student enrichment programs such as workshops and educational assemblies, which further enhance your child’s learning experience. None of these programs are funded by the State. Without parent donations, our students would not have these teachers and programs.

WHY DO I HAVE TO FUND THESE PROGRAMS/POSITIONS? DON'T MY TAXES COVER THIS?

The State and school district do not provide Lincoln any funding for Technology, Art, general classroom support aides or enrichment programs. Our PTA fundraises to try to make up that difference. Lincoln is not a Title I school, meaning that it does not qualify for extra funds to pay for these resources.

WHY ARE YOU ASKING FOR $650 PER CHILD?

We need $650 per child in order to cover the expense obligations we have to pay for these supplemental teachers and programs. However, any contribution is needed and much appreciated!

WHAT IF THE GOAL IS NOT MET?

If we do not meet our TLC goal, we must make up the difference with other PTA fundraisers such as Spring Benefit. If the overall PTA fundraising goal is not met, programs and/or supplemental teaching positions must be cut because we do not have the funds to pay for them. Our PTA has made cuts in the past due to fundraising shortfalls and rising costs. Our PTA never wants to see programs or supplemental teachers eliminated due to fundraising shortfalls. We work hard to encourage every family to contribute what they can in order to maintain these essential programs, but it takes help from all parents.

I CAN'T MAKE A LARGE UP-FRONT CONTRIBUTION. CAN I MAKE SMALLER ONES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR?

Yes! You may visit this site and donate online or drop off a check as many times as you wish. We do offer for your convenience, the ability to set up a recurring donation, and we can automatically charge your card monthly. This can be cancelled at any time. Contributions can be made on this site any time during the year. Feel free to come back and donate as often as you like.
